Garbage and Recycle Center Attendant – Part Time $18.00 an hour
Position Summary:
The Garbage and Recycle Center Attendant is responsible for monitoring and assisting the township in the proper disposal garbage and recyclable materials and ensuring that materials are sorted correctly according to guidelines. The attendant provides customer service, collects proper fees, promotes environmental awareness, and supports the overall operations of the garbage and recycling center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and monitor customers unloading and sorting garbage and recyclable
- Collect and safeguard garbage drop off fees, make change when appropriate.
- Ensure materials are placed in the appropriate bins or
- Monitor materials for contamination and provide guidance on acceptable
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the recycling site, including sweeping, picking up litter, and light snow shoveling if necessary.
- Educate the public about recycling guidelines and township
- Report issues such as illegal dumping or safety concerns to the township supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather
- Strong communication and interpersonal
- Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
- Basic knowledge of recyclable materials and environmental practices is helpful but not required. Training can and will be provided.
- Must pass a background check.
Work Schedule:
The Town of Drammen Garbage and Recycling Center is open Saturdays 9 am–12 pm year-
round and Wednesdays 6–8 pm in summer. Flexible hours are available, with shifts as few as
one Saturday per month. Ideal for retirees seeking part-time work. Workers will be required
to be onsite 15 minutes prior to setup, time will be paid.
Outdoor facility; exposure to varying weather conditions, odors, and noise. Physical demands include bending, lifting, standing for extended periods.
